A taste of history
I am not a connoisseur of brandies, but my Russian-born father very much looks forward to a gift of this formerly Soviet Armenian "cognac" every holiday season. The history of this spirit is rich, with legendary ties to Stalin and Churchill (who famously enjoyed this brandy with his cigars), and nowadays I also purchase several bottles to give to some of the closest friends around the holidays. Whether it is the taste alone, or taste in the context of history and cultural connection, but I know that my American friends enjoy this brandy just as much as my father. It is rich, spicy, and slightly oaky. For me, this is a classic taste of the snowy winter holidays.
